Into the Music: A Look at the Live Side of Van Morrison
As of July 13, 2008, The Into the Music (Van Morrison) website has officially closed. Thanks to everyone who contributed photos, reviews, and articles. And, of course, thanks to everyone who has visited since 1996.
After the Goldrush: A Look at the Live Side of Neil Young
The Music Archive explores the question of "What is the Color When Black is Burned?" posed by Neil Young in the song "I Am a Child." In order to better understand this question, The Music Archive delves into the many Neil shows available in the trading world. This quest includes a look at the famous Old Princeton Landing shows from 1996, a detailing of the Bridge School Benefits (not yet complete), an examination of some of the better links, and a close-up picture of Neil through a variety of photos in the photo gallery.
The Musical Journey of Jerry Garcia
The Music Archive takes a look at some of our webmaster's favorite performances of Jerry Garcia. Everything from the Grateful Dead to all of his various solo projects is considered. The best shows from the Grateful Dead's 30 year career, with an eye towards suggesting some less-commonly known performances, are reviewd in the Listen to the Music Play site. You will also find suggestions for some tapes of Garcia's various solo projects, ranging from Garcia/Saunders in the 1970's to the 1995 JGB shows at the Warfield in San Francisco. In addition-- there is a comprehensive look at the history of the Garcia/Grisman collaboration-- as well as tons of links to other Dead-related sites.
Dr Boom's Blues, Brews, and Chews
The Music Archive welcomes the blues doctor to its web pages. Dr Boom, the man with the Phd in the blues, will be contributing reviews of essential blues albums, reminiscences of seeing the blues performed live, and maybe even the odd catfish recipe or two. You will also find a nice stash of handpicked blues links chosen by the doctor. Be sure to check out what the doctor has to say, but don't be expecting no cure for the blues!
The Photo Galleries
The photo gallery showcases the work of our friend Chris Bradford-- as well as stuff from the webmaster's personal collection, contributions from other collections (generously donated), and other photos we found surfing around the internet. You will find separate galleries for Van Morrison, Neil Young, Jerry Garcia, and Bob Dylan. Another friend of The Music Archive, Russ Dugoni, sent us a slew of pictures, including some wonderful shots of various blues artists. In the near future we will have some photos of The Rolling Stones, The Who, Tom Waits, Boz Scaggs, and some other surprises.
